Southeast receives $500K grant from Energy Department
Southeast Missouri State University will develop a center to train students on energy engineering, funded by a $500,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant.
The five-year award is a subgrant from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Faculty members at Southeast and the University of Missouri-Columbia are collaborating on the project titled “Missouri Industrial Assessment and Education Center.”
The satellite site at Southeast will give students with practical experience and training in energy engineering hands-on assessment and experience in providing assistance to small- to medium-sized manufacturers with improving energy efficiency, minimizing waste and improving sustainability and productivity.
Dr. Deepak Gupta, assistant professor of industrial and engineering technology, will serve as director for the center.
