RELEASE: *** PSC HEARING COUNTDOWN CLOCK: 1 DAY *** MBEF: STOP the NORANDA BAILOUT
With 1 DAY Until the PSC Hears from Southeast Missouri, St. Louis, and Mid-Missouri, MBEF Reminds Consumers Why Noranda’s Rate Shift is Bad for Missouri
Jefferson City, MO – After a week of reminders about all the reasons Missourians should oppose the Noranda rate shift, Missourians for a Balanced Energy Future calls on Ameren Missouri ratepayers to attend the Public Service Commission (PSC) hearings in Caruthersville, St. Louis, and Jefferson City to stop the PSC from giving a consumer-funded bailout to Noranda.
“Missourians have already forked over enough in tax dollars. We don’t need to fund another bailout through higher electric rates,” MBEF Executive Director Irl Scissors said.
If Noranda is successful, it would be the biggest bailout for a single company in Missouri history — ALL at the expense of consumers and other Missouri businesses.
MBEF is reminding Missouri consumers of reasons to oppose Noranda’s rate shift request as the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) plans to hear from community members in Caruthersville, St. Louis, and Jefferson City at 6 p.m. on June 9th, 10th, and 11th respectively.
