Regulators seek input on renewable energy
Missouri utility regulators are asking for ideas on how to implement a state law requiring electric utilities to use more renewable energy.
Voters in 2008 approved a ballot measure that requires investor-owned utilities to start using more renewable energy sources. The Missouri Public Service Commission is responsible for developing rules to implement the law, and a divided commission approved a proposal this year.
But a legislative committee rejected part the renewable energy rule that deals with whether electricity produced outside Missouri must be sold to customers in the state to count under the mandate.
Now, regulators are asking for ideas from utilities, customers and others. Comments are due by Oct. 1.
