MO, WI: Latest pot of diesel grant cash makes the rounds
Truck owners in several states have opportunities to get free money for emissions upgrades.
The latest round of federal diesel grant funding through DERA is making its way to state, regional and nonprofit agencies for dispersal to truck owners, including recent announcements for truck owners in Wisconsin and Missouri.
The Wisconsin Department of Commerce is accepting applications for its Diesel Truck Idling Reduction Grant Program. The $2 million program will include grant awards on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will be funding projects from $3,500 to a maximum of $45,000 through Missouri’s Clean Diesel Program. The state funding program is divided among truck owners based in the metropolitan Kansas City, St. Louis and southwest Missouri areas.
Forty percent of the total project cost would be reimbursed through Missouri’s grant program, including emission-control devices, idling-reduction equipment, low-rolling-resistance tires, aerodynamic retrofits and engine repowers.
Missouri’s deadline for applications to be submitted is April 16.

DERA, the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act – is a vehicle for federal and state programs to help trucking companies obtain grants and reimbursements for emissions-cutting technology such as APUs. DERA’s largest funding has come through last year’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
