Lake News: Hearing held on energy plan
Missouri House Representative and Chair of the Energy and the Environment Committee Rocky Miller held a house committee meeting on Thursday afternoon at Willmore Lodge in Lake Ozark to discuss the state’s energy plan and the EPA’s Clean Power Plan.
Invited to speak at the meeting were representatives from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources(MDNR), who spoke about the Clean Power Plan; the Missouri Public Service Commission, who spoke on behalf on utility providers; and several house members and a state senator, who spoke on behalf of their constituents.
The committee is tasked with creating an energy plan for the state of Missouri that would set a course for the state to comply with the new federal regulations announced by the Obama administration.
It’s still unclear on how the new Clean Power Plan act and state energy plan would affect the average consumer or business, because officials are still trying to interpret the rules and regulations and how the state can properly apply those regulations.
