Energy consumers could get ‘trifecta’ of savings next week
Energy customers can get cash back for making their homes more efficient. The Department of Natural Resources is offering rebates toward the cost of furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters and more. Ameren is also offering a rebate program.
Greg Lovett, energy expert with Ameren, says in addition to the Ameren and Natural Resources rebate programs, consumers can take advantate of next week’s green sales tax holiday, which adds up to big savings on new energy-efficient appliances.
Lovett says the three programs are not exclusive of each other, and encourages consumers to take advantage of all three.
Lovett says Ameren’s program is in its fifth year now.
Thermostats, natural gas furnaces, boilers, water heaters, caulking, insulations, and windows qualify for the Ameren program; DNR is also offering rebates on dishwashers, clothing washers and air conditioners.
The Ameren program had $325,000 for consumers; Lovett says there’s a little more than $200,000 left.
