Ameren “Methane to Megawatts” plant gets PSC permit
AmerenUE’s plan to use landfill gas to generate electricity is one step closer to fruition.
The Missouri Public Service Commission has given the company approval to move ahead with plans to build a plant that burns methane from the Fred Webber Landfill on Creve Coeur Mill Road.
Ameren Renewables Manager Bill Barbieri says the company is on track to begin building the plant late this summer. It will consist of three turbines that run off of processed methane gas from the landfill.
He says at its peak the plant will generate enough electricity tio power up to ten thousand homes.
