MO General Assembly Takes Steps to Secure Our Energy Future

It didn’t take long for legislators to notice: the Missouri Energy Partnership Act – legislation that would preserve the option of clean, reliable and affordable nuclear power – is an urgent issue that can’t be delayed. That’s why we’re pleased that the House of Representatives has taken action.

On Tuesday, House Utilities committee members voted 21-2 to adopt House Bill 124. This moves the bill to full consideration on the floor. The vote comes on the heels of last week’s House Utilities committee hearing, during which the bill’s lead sponsor, Rep. Jeanie Riddle, provided an informative overview of House Bill 124.

While this legislative progress is exciting news, now is not the time to celebrate. Big businesses like Noranda and Anheuser Busch continue to push an agenda that serves their own interests and ignores Missouri’s energy needs. We must remain vigilant in our efforts to secure a clean energy future in Missouri.
