MidMissouri: Blunt opposes EPA Clean Power Plan

SEDALIA, MO — Blunt made his remarks during a news conference at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.

Blunt was surrounded by leaders of several Missouri agricultural organizations.

Blunt is fighting the Environmental Protection Agency’s new Clean Power Plan.

Blunt said the plan would have a negative impact on Missouri agriculture.

Blunt said, “The world food demand is going to double sometime between now and 2070. Nobody is better prepared to take advantage of that than we are unless we let the regulators get in the way.”

Blunt has not announced he will run for re-election in 2016.

The Republican’s likely opponent would be Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander on the Democrat ticket.
